Privacy Policy

Range Logic ("we," "us," or "our") publishes the Range Logic ballistic calculator for iPhone ("App"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the App.

1. What Stays on Your Device

Everything you enter or record in the App is saved in a database on your phone. We cannot see it. That includes:

• Rifles, scopes, ammunition and the profiles that combine them
• Truing data, zero records and custom drag models
• Match stages, targets, range cards and the holds worked out for them
• Target photos you take or import for group analysis and zeroing
• Readings from sensors you connect, and your App settings

If your iPhone is backed up to iCloud or a computer, this data is included in your own backup, which is covered by Apple's terms.

2. Permissions the App Asks For

Each one is optional, and the App works without it:

• Location: Read when you tap the GPS button, to fill in your latitude and altitude for the Coriolis and air-density calculations. It is used on your phone and is not sent to us or anyone else.
• Motion and compass: Used to measure the look angle and direction to a target when you ask the App to capture them.
• Camera and photos: Used to photograph or import a target. The pictures stay on your phone unless you choose to share them.
• Bluetooth: Used to connect to equipment you pair, such as a Kestrel or other weather meter, a shot sensor or a heart-rate strap. Heart-rate readings are used for the training screens and are kept on your phone only.

If you use an Apple Watch or a Garmin watch with the App, your stage data is sent from your phone to your own watch.

3. What Leaves Your Device

3.1 Purchases and the Free Trial

Range Logic Pro and the free trial are handled by Apple through the App Store; we never see your payment details. To unlock Pro, restore it on a new phone and keep track of the trial, the App checks your purchase with RevenueCat, a service that manages in-app purchases for apps. RevenueCat receives:

• Your App Store purchase record for Range Logic (the trial and Pro), and when it was made
• A random ID for your copy of the App (see 3.2)
• Your country, currency and language settings, and the versions of the App and of iOS

We do not give RevenueCat your name, email address or location. We see sales figures and purchase records in our RevenueCat account, tied only to that random ID. RevenueCat handles this information under its own privacy policy.

3.2 A Random ID

When the App first opens it asks Google's Firebase Authentication service for an anonymous ID: a random string that is not linked to your name, email address or Apple Account. The App uses it to label your data on your phone and to identify your purchase. Like any internet service, Firebase sees the IP address and basic device information of the request. Google handles this under Firebase's privacy terms.

3.3 News and Fonts

The App downloads a small file from range-logic.com to check for announcements, and may download its typeface from Google Fonts. Neither request includes your ID or any of your data; the server receiving it sees your IP address, as with any web request.

3.4 What You Choose to Share

If you export your data or share a profile, the App creates a file and hands it to the app you pick in the iOS share sheet. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write.

4. What We Do Not Do

• We do not sell or rent your information
• We do not show ads or use advertising identifiers
• We do not keep your profiles, stages, photos, location or heart-rate data on our servers

5. Crash Reports

If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may pass us crash reports that do not identify you. You can turn that off in Settings at any time.

6. Keeping, Exporting and Deleting Your Data

• Export: Settings › Export Data saves your rifles, scopes, ammunition, profiles and stages as files you can keep.
• Delete: You can delete any item in the App. Deleting the App from your phone removes everything it stored there.
• Purchase record: To have the random ID and purchase record held by RevenueCat and Firebase removed, email us. Your App Store purchase history itself is kept by Apple.

7. Children

Range Logic is intended for adults and is not directed at children. The App does not ask for anyone's age or personal information.

8. Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
